Valhalla Photography Ran, Goddess of the Sea

Photoshoot from Valhalla Photography featuring Model Katie Cheshire. A stylized interpretation of the goddess Ran from Norse Mythology. Ran was known to drown sailors with her net, dragging them down to the depths. She embodies both the beauty and the danger of the seas.

We did this session to pay homage to both the photographer and model’s Norse ancestry. So many people only know figures like Thor and Loki from the Norse Pantheon and we wanted to introduce them to others. It was also the first project that Katie and I decided to do for just the fun of it, hoping to reinvigorate our love of stylized photography. I hadn’t picked up my camera in over two years until this shoot and I am happy to say it succeeded in making me fall in love with the art all over again. One of our favorite aspects of photography is being able to make the you that you see in your head, come out in beautiful pictures. ~ @valhallaphotosut
