Special Effects Makeup Artist Creates Illusion Makeup looks

My name is Emma Van-De-Peer also known as Movie_mayhem_makeup. I am a special effects and body painting artist. I’ve lived in Cardiff in the UK for the last 3 years after moving from London.

I live with my fiancé and 2 sons who are amazingly supportive and are always helping me with ideas for my next look.

I love using make-up to create all different kinds of art, but I especially love creating illusions that make people say “Wow did she do that?”

I first got interested in special effects make-up when I worked with a drama company. I loved how realistic the make-up looked and the children’s reactions when we showed them how it was done. I then started practicing face painting and I loved working with children at parties and special events. I built up a large client base which kept me very busy.

When we decided to move away from London I had to begin to build up a new client base and so as I took the time to do that I decided to keep practicing by doing the make-up on myself. I created an Instagram page to showcase this.

The page grew and I met lots of amazing make-up artists though my page who I’ve become good friends with. We’ve worked together to create some fun projects but also to support some wonderful causes, using our combined pages to spread awareness.

When the pandemic hit all the work I had outside of Instagram came to an abrupt halt. I’ve loved being able to carry on with my art through this channel and also working with all the other artists. It’s an amazing social channel especially at the moment while we are so limited in how we can connect with people. ~ Movie_mayhem_makeup
