Australian Tattoo Artist Jess Hannigan

Jess Hannigan is an Australian born Artist, currently living and working in Adelaide South Australia ( Kaurna country)
She has been a professional tattooist for the past 9 years, with a strong background in the visual arts, and the fine arts.

My tattoo work along with my traditional artworks, is constantly evolving. I love to dive into new techniques, and exploring textures, colours, contrast and pattern. I believe this creates a dynamic exploration into both hangable and wearable artwork.

My favourite design process is to work intuitively and will involve both traditional painting, digital artworks, collage, and freehand ( drawn or painted, straight onto the skin) and then translated into the tattoo focusing on composition and natural body flow.

I have also acquired a passion -through the tattoo craft – of learning about the human experience which has dominated my life recently. The process alone can be both tedious and beautiful, allowing the client to be present in one’s self, and is unlike any other to experience.

This has led me to appreciate and explore the history of tattoos, (far beyond the idea of sailors and outlaws) and how it can be used as a form of connectives, healing, empowerment, and strong self expression.

I aim for my works to represent this, and I am so excited to be a part of such an ancient craft, that is seeing such a massive revival through our mainstream society. ~ @littlemissjesstattoos
