Polly specialises in the Corrugations and Curved Fold branches of origami. Purely by folding, Polly imparts 3D geometric repeat patterns into the paper without the use of either cuts or glue.
A new and exciting departure from the geometrical is her figurative sculptural folding of the paper into faces. Using the clean lines and skills built up from her previous abstract works, she manipulates the paper into seemingly impossible forms of the face.
Each delicate works is unique and takes shape in the moment, Polly works against the clock, a sheet of dampened paper drying as she goes and the graceful curved lines appear and are then carefully accentuated. When the sheet of paper is dry it has locked in the new shape capturing the character of the person now defined. ~ Polly Verity
