The Artworks of Jo Matei

I am a self-taught artist raised in Italy, where I first discovered my passion for the arts. Studying the Renaissance artistshelped me understand the harmony of human body and the depths of perspective. In these years I developed a profound interest for portrait drawings.

Although the sunny Belpaese laid the foundations of my artistic craft, my creative moods are mostly influenced by the more obscure aspects of human existence. My aim is to explore and challenge themes that are still under-considered in our society today, with an interest towards the spheres of the subconscious, death and spirituality. ~ jo matei
