The Journey of Grace Murray-Rowley, Pencil Portrait Artist
Grace Murray-Rowley has always used art to communicate with others and capture moments that words can’t describe. She has been specialising in pencil portraits of loved ones, families, and pets for more than 15 years. She made the move to become a full-time artist in 2019. Every drawing captures the love her customers have for their loved ones, and it’s incredibly touching for her to learn about their families and pets and to be able to help them remember and preserve the people who are most important to them.
Not only has operating this business influenced Grace Murray-Rowley’s art, but it has also influenced her personally. She has struggled with imposter syndrome and self-doubt at every turn, living with borderline personality disorder (BPD), depression, and anxiety. However, art has been her lifeline, providing her with meaning and demonstrating that, in spite of her difficulties, she is capable of producing beauty, shedding light on the darkness she occasionally finds herself in.
It has been just as therapeutic for Grace Murray-Rowley to support other artists via her Patreon community. Leading students on their own paths has stoked her enthusiasm and given her a sense of community she never would have thought possible. As fulfilling as producing her own work has been, seeing their development and cultivating a positive environment has been equally rewarding.
Not only is art her profession, but it has also served as a means of healing, hope, and illumination for others. She will always be thankful for that. ~ @gracemurrayart
