Creating a fantasy world of realism and surrealism art is my style
My Way
I’ve had a long way to go to become an artist.
My name is Lena Sugralinova and I was born in a small village in Kazakhstan, one of the ex-Soviet Republics.
As a small child, I drew imaginary worlds. While other children were studying, I was drawing, so I was never a good student at the school. Unfortunately, my parents were too poor to send me to study Art. Also, because in my country an artist is not a prestigious profession, I was forced to study in a technical college and work on two jobs to earn money for food. But I never gave up and always continued to draw.
In 2016 I decided to become an artist, because it was my biggest dream. In 2018, I moved to the United States to study English and try to start from a new page. I’ve improved my English and got the opportunity to learn art books in English. I started to study on my own. I also studied Art history to find my style in Art.
Since 2018, I have been drawing every morning. I paint for six hours and then for two hours I learn theory. I believe you should always learn, even if you are a professional artist. I also believe if you have the desire and patience you can learn. One wise man said “Find something you will die for and live for”.
How I found my style
I found inspiration in the paintings of DaVinci and Bouguereau. I also admire the art works of contemporary artists, but whose paintings are in classical style. My most favorite artists are Cesar Santos, Andrew Tischler and Scott Waddell.
My style is a mix of realism and surrealism. I do not like when my paintings are compared to photographs because I do not use reference and do not achieve photorealism. I like to play with colors. Combine reality with my fantasy world. Each painting is a little story. Each person reads them differently.
My goals
My goal is to create a masterpiece in Art history. It may take decades, but I’m ready.
Therefore, you will not find my paintings for sale on the Internet. I do not sell my art and refuse to anyone who asks to sell at least a print of a painting. Maybe it’s not wise, but my family supports me. All the years I have been preparing to submit my works to competitions and exhibitions. Professional recognition is more important to me than money.
I want to prove that self-taught artists can be appreciated as well as those artists who have received education. I have already made a step toward it. I have been chosen for the 30TH ANNUAL ALL FLORIDA JURIED ARTS SHOW. I hope it’s just the beginning of something great.
I want to show with my experience that even if you are a foreigner in the USA, you can have success due to your hard work. ~ Lena Sugralinova
I am not a Cat. A cat has nine lives. For three he plays, for three he strays and for the last three he stays.” You are not a cat, you only have one life to live.
The Lost Girl. Sometimes life is like a dark tunnel. You can’t always see the light at the end of the tunnel, but if you just keep moving…you will come to a better place.
Nude Feelings. When we love someone unconditionally, we stay silent even when the words hurt us. We take it too personally, as if we are without skin. We put on a strong woman’s mask as protection, but our senses are naked in front of the person we love.
