Storytelling Narrative Photographer Nicole York
My goal with any artistic pursuit is always to tell stories, because stories are at the heart of what it means to be human. We think in stories, create connection and empathy through stories, and use stories to create meaning. What are our memories but stories we tell ourselves? Every frame I capture or create is meant to be a piece of a story, a single moment in a character’s journey that encourages the viewer to ask and wonder and explore. And fantasy is a powerful tool for storytelling because it allows us to get to the extraordinary truth behind things that look mundane, to face dragons, to become knights, to live through the most extreme representations of who we are. That combination is the core of my motivation to create. I want to tell stories that remind us we are far more than we seem.~ @nicoleyorkphotography
