My name is Rosa Yoo. I’m a paper artist based in South Korea and a member of the Paper Artist Collective, which is a global paper artist group. I have been working as a paper artist since winning the prize in paper art contest in 2009, and I have held exhibitions, taught workshops. I mainly make 3D artworks with paper, using different types of techniques. I am very interested in turning a 2D sheet of paper into a wonderful 3d art piece, through the process of cutting, folding, and assembling.
It may be too common, but my works are usually inspired by everyday life. And I enjoy making mini – size paper works. The characters of the works are usually objects that meet in my daily life. I find the characteristics of each of these objects, and try to give them life and tell their own stories, by describing in detail. Even if I make smaller, I try to describe them in more detail.
Sometimes my works are inspired by beautiful buildings and landscapes, such as windows with a balcony garden, elements of architecture like cupolas or dormers, various roof shapes, and doors with a delicate security grille. ~ Rosa Yoo
