Artist Trevor Carter Inspired Sculptures
Living bayside a few Kilometres from the City of Melbourne Australia, Originally I was from England, my Father had a natural aptitude for drawing and painting, his love of colour and dimension filtered down to me and ultimately with his encouragement, I developed a passion for art.
My career choices were led by my head and not my heart consequently art took a secondary place in my life but remained a cornerstone and ever present as a source of escape from the rigours and demands of my career.
I’m now at a point in life that circumstances allow the opportunity to explore my hearts passion. In 2012 I started to experiment with sculpture, artistically I found the shift from 2D to 3D very natural, I particularly enjoy the challenges within the multitude of processes that sculptors can use to create their art.
I strive to make my work less static or heavy with the use of these materials and interact with natural light to give movement and life to the piece. The intention is to provide the viewer with a singularly intimate and unique experience. ~ Sculptor Trevor C
“Whispers” – As light passes through each piece in the spectrum it communicates, reflects and refracts altering the next, influencing and changing it.
“Chrystal Aqua” – is a life study piece originally sculpted in clay and cast in glass & resin, it’s curves in this classic pose are enhanced using contemporary materials with the beautiful depth of colours found in the oceans that dominate the image of our planet from space.
“Surfer Reflections” – is a life study piece originally sculpted in clay then cast in glass and resin. Surfers… are such an iconic image of Australia, as are the beautiful depth of colours found in the oceans that surround its land.
The subject, in this case is a surfer at rest, looking across the waves, he reflects on the day, it’s triumphs, it’s disappointments and the space he is in.
“Bolt out of the blue” – This bronze sculpture finished in an Aqua dappled patina, is my vision of an unstoppable force personified, an inner strength that is both driven and passionate. This figure represents something beyond determination, it is the potential, that when motivated, I believe exists in all of us to stand our ground even when the odds seem overwhelming.
“Libera Cosi” – This piece is intended to show a free spirit suspended in time a moment of pure abandon, unconstrained from external expectations and judgement choosing to be separated from everything around her, revelling in the gift of solitude as she drifts weightless savouring the sensations that only the soul can hear.
