Kamila J Gruss Photography Artist
My name is Kamila J Gruss. I was born and grew up in Poland. I studied and lived in Berlin for ten years, where I did my master’s degree in New German Literature, Spanish Literature and General And Comparative Literature Studies. At the same time, I did my master’s degree in German studies in Szczecin, Poland. When my father fell seriously ill, I returned home and started working in a family business. To this day, I work and live here, with my husband and our two wonderful children.
Photography is my passion, obsession and a way to catch my breath. This is the part of me I love to get lost in, when it absorbs me, I create my own versions of reality. Visions from my head, remembered by digital memory and post-processed in Photoshop, become paintings. Raw files are like notes that only start to make up history after editing.
As a dreamer, I´m always immersed in the world that I create from my imagination. Hence my great passion for literature. I am a hyper sensitive person, and it is both a gift and a curse. Like a seismograph, I perceive stimuli from the outside world – the vibrations they cause often keep me awake at night. That is why in my paintings there are not only fantastic elements. There are also topics from the reality that surrounds me, such as LGBT rights, the situation in the Polish health system or the prohibition of abortion. The emotions that pound inside me rise and pour out on the work that I create. ~ @kamilajgruss
