Beautiful Human Figure Paintings by Artist Guido Mauas
Guido Mauas is a painter, writer and filmmaker. About his work as a painter, he tells us: “When I paint, I am usually interested in working the human figure and shaping the form, light and shadow, without having total control of the exact result. I like to improvise. Some of my works are a combination of working directly from life, using references from photos I take, or photos I like, and also imagination (meaning no reference). Sometimes I combine these elements to create a unique composition that expresses a mood I’m attracted to. Movement and brushwork were always there as a part of my style, but they’re becoming more and more important. After several years of improving my technique, I am now more focused on developing my compositional freedom and expressiveness. We’ll see where this new journey in the canvas takes me.”
Guido Mauas attended the New York Academy of Arts, where he studied Human Figure with Mark Tennant, and was twice awarded a scholarship to study with Antonio López García in Spain. ~ guidomauas.com
