The Artist Paints a Different Reality in Colored Pencil and Oil paint
Educated in Fine Art in the US, Veronica Winters steps away from traditional painting to create visionary art that merges reality with fantasy. Using her ideas, emotions, travel and art history, the artist paints a different reality in colored pencil and oil paint. Her figurative art becomes a meditation on the meaning of life, purpose and human connection to the Universe. When Winters conceives her paintings she wants to create work that shows feelings of love, balance, and connection- everything that makes us aspiring humans. The artist’s mission is to inspire people to connect to their own soul and light to form a heart-centered world that we all need to live in.
By taking her viewers to another realm, she designs images around figures, symbols and unique color harmonies to explain the interconnectedness of everything living in the Universe. The artist is interested in psychology and emotions that she believes are cornerstones in experiencing one-of-a-kind reality. In her art, Winters wants to come closer to understanding the meaning of life and systems that support it. She strongly believes that humans are complex creatures with intertwined connections of mind, body and soul. She enjoys painting this unseen relationship, seeking to capture the secrets of everything living. Her art is influenced by classical art, 19th-century painters and Greco-Roman sculpture, yet carries a contemporary aesthetic reminiscent of Alex Grey. She believes that art carries healing powers that both the artist and viewer can enjoy daily while looking at art. She paints in two mediums -colored pencil and oils to illustrate different aspects on the theme of visionary art. Colored pencil allows it to be very detailed while oil painting lets the artist paint bigger and bolder. Working on her art daily, she hopes to contribute to the creation of a heart-centered world filled with light.
Born in Russia, Winters is Florida-based portrait artist, art instructor, and book author. You can find the artist in her studio in Naples, painting, writing about art or recording new podcast episodes. The artist published two art instruction books titled The Colored Pencil Manual and How to Color Like an Artist by Dover Publications. Veronica’s art and writing has been published in numerous magazines and art books, including Strokes of Genius, Leisure Painter, Colored Pencil Magazine, the Guide Artists, the American Art Collector and the International Artist Magazine. The artist studied art at the Oklahoma State University for her Bachelor’s degree, at Penn State for her Master’s as well as at the Grand Central Academy of Art and the Art Students League in New York studying classical drawing and painting techniques.
