Plein Air Oil Paintings on Canvas by Sally West
I have been painting and drawing all my life. I grew up in Central NSW of Australia on a sheep and wheat farm. I now live in Sydney on the east coast of Australia. I am predominantly a plein air painter but I also work in my studio to produce still life and portraits. Plein air painting is special in that it allows the artist to create a direct response to the environment. Each piece is created in one session. I use oil paint and apply it with a palette knife. The greatest challenge is transporting the works back to my studio without damaging them. ~ Sally West
